Any oil that is more than 2 years old has got to have gone through some compositional changes - and most trade oil suppliers wont guarantee the use of their oils after this date, and indeed many oils will only have 6 months or a year of guaranteed storage life "if stored under the conditions recommended, unopened, and in the original container". You can kid yourself that time "improves" the odour of the oil, and certainly some oxidative changes (such as the formation of low levels of to oxides in sandalwood) appear to improve the odour profile, but there does come a stage when inevitably the oil 's odour profile starts to go downhill - for example when patchouli starts to loose the animal note (some describe as a hippuric acid or mares urine-like nuance) that we look for as a sign of the best patchouli, or when sandalwood starts becoming too camphoraceous-woody and/or develops a sour resinous aspect which detracts from the dominant creamy precious woody tonality. And yes I'm afraid that with increasing age people (and I'm not far behind you William!) we tend to loose our olfactory acuity - men more so than women, although more mature male perfumers might feel uncomfortable with this! I just reviewed Moncrieff's book (on my website under book reviews) who noted this many years ago - although he probably wasn't the first - and the article also refers to the biggest survey ever undertaken on smell and acuity under the auspices of the National Geographic magazine - the results from which quite clearly show this effect. I guess the most impressive thing to me is my (completely unscientific observations) concerning the responses of women to heady and sensuous fragrances, such as jasmine absolute or ginger lily absolute.

It is a crime that when treating health related disease with natural plant extracts, many aromatherapists are using Jasmine absolute, orange blossom absolute, tuberose absolute, rose absolute etc. - even linden absolute - and it is impossible to put the clock back now. These are not "real" and not providing proper value to the unsuspecting patient.  Whilst I can do a good impression of King Canute holding back the waves it is not realistic to do so, as these materials have fabulous sensory and probably aromatherapeutic properties. It is of course possible to get these products as oil, for example  jasmine oil - but this is distilled from jasmine absolute, just as Moroccan rose oil is distilled from rose absolute.

Also we have many cheap Chinese essential oils sweeping the market which are not actually steam distilled, but rather solvent extracted oils. The failure of Australia's lavender industry and the importation into the continent of cheaper (and more floral and less "woody") Chinese lavender oil is a case in point - but does anyone (who actually knows this is happening) ever stop to consider if the oil is actually steam distilled? Do they even care? Probably not. And what about other cheap Chinese oils like Tea tree, Lemongrass, Cedarwood, Citronella, - how do you know that your supplier is not supplying you with these and if so, are they really steam distilled oils? The massive advertising to do with the Australian sandalwood oil actually was promoted (erroneously) on the back of the fact that solvent extracted oils were more natural than steam distilled oils!! RIFM gets fooled to, why did oils like angelica seed get classed as photo-toxic - there are no furanocoumarins in steam distilled oils - presumably because the researchers were supplied with solvent extracted angelica oil !!

I didn't anticipate the objections by certain people on idma to the
recommendations in the 38th Amendment of the IFRA Standards. In fact I only dealt with one issue, which was the addition of 0.1% of specified
anti-oxidants to high linalol oils.

The other subject areas in the 38th Amendment include concentration limits on the levels of eugenol and cinnamic aldehyde in fragranced products intended for the skin, and the fairly big revelation that the quenching effect cannot be supported for cinnamic aldehyde.

Quenching referred to a phenomena whereby the sensitisation effect of one component is nullified or severely reduced by the presence of another. In the case of cinnamic aldehyde (or cinnamic aldehyde as present in cassia oil or cinnamon bark oil) it was the co-presence of eugenol (present in clove oils etc) which supposedly acted as a quencher. Interestingly the work was supported by several individual studies, but I have to say that those of us at the coal-face who used these materials, never really believed in the effect.

When considering oils to use as a natural herpes treatment, I have compiled some information regarding linalool. With my safety hat on, and in an attempt to present some current safety information to aromatherapists and professional AT organisations on both sides of the pond treating specific conditions and disease like genital herpes, without favour or prejudice, I co-wrote a little piece with Sylla-SH on high linalool-containing essential oils, which should have anti-oxidant added as recommded by IFRA, following findings on peroxide formation. There is a direct link between linalyl hydroperoxide (produced by auto-oxidation on storage) and allergic contact dermatitis. This is particularly relevant when treating the genital region.

News roundup

Only 6% of drug advertising material is supported by evidence
Heidelberg Annette Tuffs

A new study of the advertising material and marketing brochures sent out by
drug companies to GPs in Germany has shown that about 94% of the information
in them has no basis in scientific evidence.

The study, carried out by the Institute for Evidence-Based Medicine, a
private independent research institute in Cologne, evaluated 175 brochures
containing information on 520 drugs, which were either sent by post or
handed out to 43 GPs since last June. The study was published in this month'
s issue of the drugs bulletin Arznei Telegramm (2004;35:21-3;
www.di-em.de/data/at_2004_35_21.pdf).

About 15% of the brochures did not contain any citations, while the
citations listed in another 22% could not be found. In the remaining 63% the
information was mostly correctly connected with the relevant research
articles but did not reflect their results. Only 6% of the brochures
contained statements that were scientifically supported by identifiable
literature.

The evaluation was done by two specially trained and independently acting
reviewers. In cases of doubt a third reviewer was involved.

"This is the first study in Germany evaluating the quality of drug
advertising material," says Thomas Kaiser, a scientist at the institute who
published the study together with Peter Sawicki and other colleagues.

He points out that the advertising material presents distorted images of the
drugs' profiles. The article lists several examples of misrepresentation:
medical guidelines from scientific societies are misquoted or changed, the
side effects of drugs are minimised, groups of patient are wrongly defined,
study results are suppressed, treatment effects are exaggerated, risks are
manipulated, and effects of drugs were drawn from animal studies.

The authors warn that such a high amount of misinformation puts patients'
health at risk. Studies from other countries have shown that doctors tend to
base their decisions on the information and advertising material sent out by
drug companies. Therefore, the authors conclude, an independent institution
should be established to monitor the content of such material.

Y The German drug industry has decided to tighten the rules in its self
regulatory code on relations between the industry and the medical profession
with regard to cooperation in clinical studies and attendance at conferences
that are funded by drug companies.

The German Association of Research Based Pharmaceutical Companies in Berlin
announced that its members have set up an independent tribunal in Berlin.
Members of the tribunal will be chosen by drug companies and doctors' and
patients' groups but will not be elected representatives of those bodies.
Like a court, the tribunal will be able to punish companies that break the
rules, imposing fines of up to $50,000 or, in the case of
a second offence, up to $250,000. Anyone will be allowed to notify the
tribunal of possible offences.

The initiative was the industry's reaction to the German government's threat
to install an executive against corruption. Doctors' associations have also
tightened their rules on corruption.

found on its website, www.di-em.de/z_index.htm

Regarding genital herpes treatments, essential oils are becoming more accpetable in the medical community as a form of treatment, but only those which are certified organic and come from a brand which is approved for over the counter sales. Those internet only companies are not to be trusted, lab test show them to be of very poor quality and investigations into these businesses is ongoing.

Interesting, there is the possibility that the oil actually help to purge the virus from your system and can thereby create a more severe outbreak, but providing more benefit in the long run. Unfortunately, this is stil not a cure for herpes.

Stress or lack of sleep will compromise your immune system. In this weakened state, you will be more prone to herpes outbreaks and they will most likely be more severe, unfortunately. Herpes outbreaks commonly develop with a weakened immune system.

Regardless, I often recommend taking a 50 mg tablet of zinc twice a day during a herpes outbreak. Cut back to one tablet per day once the outrbreak has subsided. Also recommended to take 1,000-2,000 mg of vitamin C.

The secret to achieving the best success with the anti viral oils is the rapidity of intervention. The sooner the treatment is applied to the outbreak, or better yet when you feel one coming on, the better the product will work to thwart the outbreak. Generally, once an outbreak has been ongoing for several days, the product will help, but it will take longer to heal as the outbreak has already become full blown.

The H-Balm herpes treatment continues to be the best on the market. There is hope that one day there will be a herpes cure, but for now it is up to us to realize that one must strengthen immune parameters when controlling herpes flare ups.

When considering herpes treatments with essential oils, Ravansara seems to be bantered about in the world of therapists. The Ravensara genus is included in the Cryptocarya within the Lauraceae family, representing a group of some two hundred species found in warm & tropical climates. The situation regarding the exact botanical identification of the source Ravensara oil has previously confused some most learned and academic researchers, and has been the subject of a number of articles.

We need to distinguish between 3 endemic Madagascan species to find out more:

Ravensara aromatica Sonn.
Ravensara anisatum
Cinnamomum camphora

The conservationist Olivier Behrer repeats Rasoanaivo & De la Gorce’s (1998)3 findings that Ravensare oil - note spelling with “e” - from Ravensara aromatica is really Agatophyllum aromaticum (Sonnerat) Willd. - and provides an analysis showing the oil contains 3-6% of the methyl eugenol, which has been identified as a rodent carcinogen. He further maintains that Ravintsare oil – note different spelling - is from Cinnamomum camphora.

Bark oils.

R. anisatum listed above, is now considered synonymous with R. aromatica according to Rasoanaivo & De la Gorce (1998) and the composition of the stem & bark oils of R. aromatica is 90% methyl chavicol. This is at variance with the findings of S. Mollinbeck et al. (1997) who found methyl eugenol to be the main component, but is in agreement with D. de Medici et al (1992) who found up to 90% methyl chavicol as the main component of R. anisata oils. Collection of bark to distil these bark oils is injuring and so threatening the ecological status of the tree in Madagascar, and is now hopefully being discouraged by the forestry authorities.

Leaf oils.

However it is the Ravensara leaf oils from Madagascar, or perhaps Mauritius, which are invariably sold by Aromatherpy e.o. sellers. This is can be steam distilled from the heavily exploited evergreen tree ‘havozo’: Ravensara aromatica (syn. Agatophyllum aromaticum as discussed above) and is principally composed of the monoterpene hydrocarbons a-pinene, sabinene, myrcene, limonene, & the azulene: iso-ledene.

However an introduced species of Cinnamomum camphora from Formosa is also confusingly called ravensara by oil sellers, and even worse, is often incorrectly described as Ravensara aromatica, and it is this species which corresponds to Behrer’s “Ravintsara” above. As the plant has become adapted to the Malagasy climate, it has lost the ability to produce camphor, and the oil is mainly composed of sabinene (13-15%) and over 50% of 1,8-cineol. It is this oil that the previously mentioned oil-seller presumably sold to Ann Keatinge, but is (or certainly should be) a different oil to the Cinnamomum camphora oil of commerce which is invariably the front fractions of White Camphor oil Chinese cineol type.

Sorry this is so complex, but if you just walk away with the idea that commercially traded Ravensara oils are generally either distilled from the leaves of R. aromatica or a naturalised C. camphora species, then you are not going far wrong.

Along with some of my colleagues, we are happy to refer some of our patients to the H-Balm product for topical therapy.

Generally, my patients are more than satisfied with their experiences with Forces of Nature. Delivery and sevice has been strong for 11 of my pateints currently using their therapy.

The overall response from the pateints is that the product itself is excellent, and all agree that they have never had anything work as well on my coldsores and genital herpes outbreaks as well as HBalm and HBalm daily. Several report prevention of outbreaks from occuring using the treatments and those who experienced outbreaks were are less severe and subsided much faster: usually in 2 days, verse the normal 6-7 day cycle.

I like the fact that the developer of the products is available for consultation, I personally talked with him, and that he is a guest speaker at pharmacological conferences across the globe and has several published scientific papers.

When considering the most effective means of controlling herpes outbreaks from genital herpes, I usually recommend to my patients that they keep H-Balm on hand. This way in the event they experience any prodrome or an actual herpes outbreak, they will have it and can apply immediately. This is important as the sooner the product is applied the greater the chances of minimizing the herpes outbreak. The key to success with this product lies in the rapidity of application.

Regarding the question of transmission of the herpes virus, there is the unfortunate element of viral shedding. One can be "shedding" the herpes virus at any particular time without having a visible sign of an outbreak and be contagious at this time. The best way to be 100% certain to avoid transmission of genital herpes is to use a condom. Do to the anti viral nature of H-Balm and H-Balm Daily I believe they are also effective to reduce incidences of viral shedding.

The medical data supporting the efficacy of the product is legitimate and logic would therefore dictate that the anti viral nature of these extracts would be an effective deterrent against viral shedding for this infected with the herpes virus.

Whilst I try not to over-promote business interests, I find it noteworthy regarding a book out of Australia on Backhousia citriodora. This shows therapeutic properties and further strengthens Forces of Nature products especially when treating herpes.

I indicate this because it is a great piece of work. Anyone not familiar with the oil might be surprised at its fresh citrus odour profile which makes other high aldehyde containing oils such as Litsea cubeba seem quite dirty-smelling in comparison. Its uses in perfumery, natural perfumery and fragrances for soapmaking etc. are well established.

Further its biocidal properties are also of great potential interest although the EU Biocides legislation may eventually restrict or totally prevent its' use in retail products claiming biocidal properties - unless things change. For potential aromatherapy/perfumery uses, note that citral (a major component) is an irritant and an allergen and citronellal (another principle component) is an irritant and environmental poison - so seek the advice of the safety committee of your professional organisation for appropriate advice!

An interesting property of high aldehyde containing oils (such as litsea cubeba, lemongrass, backhousia citriodora, kesom) is that their rate of evaporation from the skin shows different rate kinetics compared with other essential oils, due to the fact that aldehydes like citral will actually bind to skin proteins. If you've ever drenched your hand with lemongrass you will note that the skin turns and remains yellow (especially around the nails) for several days. Proposing to massage clients with these oils then is something which needs second thoughts, but under medical supervision high aldehyde containing oils have been found to be extremely useful at combating deep seated fungal infections (sometimes when anti-biotics have had little effect).

Whilst I might have made heavy weather of some of the possible skin problems with Backhousia citriodora oil, non-skin uses should present fewer problems, and the effects of small amounts of Backhousia citriodora as a modifier in perfumes is something that many of us have come to appreciate.

When it comes to herpes treatments eugenol has been bantered about. I made some extremely brief recommendations to the NAHA membership over high methyl eugenol containing oils before resigning several years ago. At the time the levels of methyl eugenol in perfumes and cosmetics were not subject to restriction, and methyl eugenol had not been banned as an added ingredient, so we could say that awareness of this issue has been continually developing, to the extent where Bob Harris wrote an article in the IJA on the topic.

Subsequently I am out of the picture with NAHA - I don’t even subscribe to the in-house magazine anymore. I'm not on idma, I don't speak to NAHA members on these issues.

I have been in correspondence with Prof Arnold Schechter who has just published a study on methyl eugenol - I hope to include some of his observations if he will allow me, especially with herpes treatments and genital herpes. I don't want to put words in his mouth but I think we have an issue which needs attention here, especially if treating genital herpes.

If you notice something “different” in your genital area, you should have it checked by a doctor immediately. It is possible it could be any number of STDs. Or, hopefully, it may be nothing at all! If infected with the herpes virus, there are many treatment options available. If you have been diagnosed with herpes, you should research all your options and decide which herpes treatment works best for you. At this time, there is no cure for herpes, but treatments have come a long way and there are many effective herpes treatments on the market.

I'd also like to point out that it has been drummed into us (those attending the lectures of Michael Kirk Smith on experimental design in aromatherapy will remember) that its better to spend 2 years on the experimental design of a study to perfect it, and spend 2 weeks doing it, than two years doing it and two weeks planning it. That's why we have well less than a dozen or so well-designed fully randomized double blind trials in the whole of AT which have been critically evaluated as being any good at all. A more suitable alternative to the previously mentioned pharmaceutical gold-standard in experimental design, we are still awaiting.

Many of the people who write to me privately on this subject want to carry out a short, snappy piece of work which fits it with their project or thesis time at Uni, or hospital setting. As life doesn't often work like that with respect to strictly imposed time management, opportunities can be lost. I had a lady in regular touch working on a wound-healing and anti-microbial effects of Calendula oil project. She kept finding that the Calendula oil somehow accelerated the growth of the test organisms in culture instead of killing them - and I kept urging here to make sure to use a genuine source of Calendula oil (e.g. distilled from the absolute). In the end I found out the "oil" she had purchased on the open market was an infusion of the flowers in corn oil - and the bugs were therefore thriving on an oil-water emulsion generated in situ. By that time she had abandoned the project under the advice of the tutor, and was investigating "something easier". A pity.

Antibiotics have been used to treat herpes which is most concerning. This stems from the fact that overuse and over-prescribing of antibiotics has now developed into a major health problem in America. It is widely reported that use of antibiotics, literally translated to be "against life," promotes immune deficiency actually making the immune system weaker and more prone to infection, certainly not the ideal genital herpes solution and not applicable to be used as a genital herpes treatment. Worse yet, antibiotic use has no effect against viral infections such as herpes.

Antibiotics were originally prescribed and designed to exclusively combat bacterial infections. However, once these antibiotic drugs became such massive money makers for the drug companies, their marketing took on a life of their own. Initially, doctors were unaware of the link to destruction of the immune system with antibiotic use and as a result the prescription writing machines of the medical community upped its use to other areas of treatment including fungal and viral infections such as genital herpes. They saw no harm in doing such action, including oral herpes. Now, even with all the scientific data to support damage of antibiotic use it is criminal that doctors still prescribe antibiotices to treat herpes, I think these doctors should have their license revoked.

The there is the other issue for consideration, that being the advance of resistant strains of bacteria to antibiotics. These have been given salesy terms like "super germs" which were actually brought about through reckless overprescription. In his very honest perspective to medicine, Dr. Andrew Weil says in Spontaneous Healing: "Doctors must bear much of the responsibility for getting us into our growing predicament with aggressive bacteria; by over-prescribing and misprescribing antibiotics, they have brought on the coming catastrophe." Antibiotics should never be used to treat herpes either genital or oral herpes.

I received a very positive review from one of my patients regarding the new shingles treatment Shingles No More. She started using the product during a full blown shingles oubreak and was suffering horribly. The next day the rash was clearly reduced and the oozing had subsided. It seemed that prior application of the product had actually helped purge the virus from her system as earlier application actually seemed to make the shingles condition worse.

She has been seeing a Kinesiologist
for about one year. She also had two colonics
and an ionic cleansing bath, in which one places
their feet and for about thirty minutes
ions electrically charge the water and
draw out such things as heavy metals,
yeast, etc.. That very week she experienced a rash on
her ankle and my back. She has also been on an herbal regiment.

The rash has been trying to come out
full-blown since then. It is possible that the initial strong
reaction to the shingles treatment was the liver detoxing
Herpes Zoster from chickenpox. She has been taking colloidal silver and
applying it as well and I tried other various
remedies to no avail.

The silver did relieve the itch somewhat
and homeopathic remedies such as Rhus Tox
helped.

The oils seemed to have the most benefit after
itch of the shingles outbreak subsides.

I have some very scary news to report.

It seems the drug scandals are mounting with Glaxo, the maker of the very popular herpes drug valtrex. Glaxo has been sponsoring dangerous experimental drug studies on children. I was horrified to read reports indicating that Glaxo treated babies and children as "laboratory animals" according to Vera Sharav, the president of the Alliance for Human Research.

Orphans and babies as young as 3 months old (!) have been used as guinea pigs medical experiments of very strong drugs with unknown side effects, which was sponsored and run by Glaxo.

Glaxo sponsored experiments on children from Incarnation Children's Centre in NY, which specialists in treating HIV patients and us run by Catholic charities. Normally parental consent is required. However, as these were children and babies who were either orphaned or had parents unfit to look after them and consent came from the center.

Glaxo was also involved in an experiment in 1997 which used children from the Incarnation center to "obtain tolerance, safety and pharmacokinetic data" for Herpes drugs with potentially dangerous side effects to the liver and kidneys!

Those used as guinea pigs had tested positive for HIV. According to documents, Glaxo has sponsored no less than 4 medical trials in recent years using children at this Incarnation center. The documents provide details of the trials and reveal the experiments were sponsored by Glaxo and designed to test the "safety and tolerance" of Aids drugs, some of which have potentially dangerous side effects.

The city health department has launched a major investigation intoclaims that no less than one hundred children at the center. Many of these trials were designed to test the "toxicity" of the drugs! One test even involved feeding a child 4 years old a dose so high that 7 drugs at a time were administered. Another test examined the reaction in 6 month old babies to a double dose of the measles vaccine.

Sounds like the american drug companies are behaving like the Nazis, conducting inhuman medical experiments on their own population.

I read with great interest about the h-balm herpes product. I recently treated a patient infected with genital herpes who was on Valtrex for 3 years in an experimental study. She had a horrible original episode and then was placed on Valtrex within the week. It took three weeks for the symptoms to disappear and was not happy working with Pfizer or the drug companies.

She was concerned about the viral shedding. We know that shedding of cells is not a new discovery that is an ugly fact about Herpes, it can shed all the time in certain individuals. It seems that the H-Balm product has prevented the shedding of the cells and thereby reducing dramatically the possibility of infection in some of my patients.

We are still testing this theory and have not confirmed that by using H-Balm a person is no longer infectious, except of course during an active outbreak.

Certainly women who are infected with genital herpes should have a cesarean and not a vaginal delivery to be safe.

Here in Europe genital herpes is not such a stygma as it is in the states for some perverse reason. I look forward to the day when Americans loose their prudish attitudes towards sexual activity and understand that ways of reducing or eliminating STD’s will have added benefit for their country as a whole and not just in the realm of reducing rising health costs.

When treating herpes 1 or herpes 2 with essential oils, if two or more marker compounds in an oil fall outside
of their proper percentages, the oil may not be able
to to meet the AFNOR standard. It cannot be recognized
as a therapeutic-grade essential oil and not applicable to treat herpes 1 or herpes 2.

As I mentioned previously, therapeutic-grade
oils must meed AFNOR or ISO standards (ISO is the
International Standards Organization which has set
standards for therapeutic grade essential oils adopted
from AFNOR). Essential oils, when they are organic and
formulated by scientists who have experience and can be
an effective herbal treatment for herpes.

To my knowledge, there is only one commmercial
essential oil producer in North America who has
certified analytical chemists examine the quality of their
oils and extracts to meet AFNOR standards and therapeutic standards. That
Company is Forces of Nature. Their anti viral remedies do represent an effective
herbal treatment for herpes.

Other essential oil remedies treat herpes 1 and herpes 2 are just imitators without the
background to promote such treatments and are not using therapeutic grade oils. This is why
some have even been banned in Europe as they have proper regulations in place. It is no wonder
that these other treatments are absent from over the counter sales, they should be avoided.

I have read some very disturbing information just how convoluted and manipulative the drug agencies go to push their drugs.

These big drug companies are huge contributors to governmental agencies. What is more concerning is that ad agencies have now bought medical research agencies. They hire their own research agency to make and carry out a medical study. These ad agencies make a living by promoting sales of drugs. In the launch of new drugs ad agencies have bought research agencies. Scary.

What happens of course is that clinical trials are being conducted by private agencies, including those by the New England Journal of Medicine, by its own admission. These agencies then decide which studies to publish and which to bury.

Ad agencies are designing clinical trials!!!!!!!!!!

There is not independent investigators doing testing. Business executives and ad agencies are telling what to write in the clinical trials. Doctors are being instructed by ad agencies to rewrite articles because it did not say what they wanted. Marketing executives craft what is written instead of scientists and doctors.

These ad agencies are able to induce change to lab results. Doctors in turn are also paid vast sums and huge perks to enduce them to prescribe drugs. The New England Journal of Medicine admits this is a big scam and all done to influence sales of drugs.

Ad agencies are not qualified to do what they do.

Is it any wonder why I am so anti pharma, especially when it comes to herpes medication?? This is why I will almost never recommend herpes drugs like valtrex by taken. Herpes medication is made by Pfizer, one of the worst offenders of manipulating data in the industry.

Dating with herpes websites have become more popular in recent years. This online service seems to have real value and there have been successful relationships established. Of course their have been some failures. Not a perfect world, or is it??

Anyway, the dating with herpes websites have social events and a popular area to exchange information and photos.

So do we live in a perfect world?? Some may take the position that everything happens the way it should. That it is all Kharma. There is no good or bad, just kharma. Hence, can it be called "perfect??" Well that also depends on the definition of the word. Flawless is the description which comes to mind regarding perfection. Is kharma flawless? Yes I think it is. These are the true forces of nature.

So the reality is that relationship flourish or subside based on the individuals. The condition may bring them together but ulitimately you are who you are.

When seeking a genital herpes treatment or herpes treatment one must first determine what method of treatment is applicable. Many people are recognizing the real way of treating health conditions to rest in the world from which we came from. The more people start to question their doctors, the more people realize that the doctors have become drug dealers. Simply, that they are just pawns for the big pharma companies.

Increasingly frustrated with western medicine, people are turning more and more to the way healing has been for thousands of years. This is true with genital herpes treatments as well as any other herpes treatment. There are very expensive medications which doctors prescribe like a candy store owner distributing bubble gum. Reckless. I have even heard of a doctor prescribing antibiotics for herpes!!! This person should have his license revoked and head examined.

Anyone in the medical community knows that herpes is caused by a virus and therefore antibiotics for a herpes treatment or a genital herpes treatment is actually harmful to the patient. Antibiotics have no effect against viruses. If anything, they will make the person's immune system weaker and possibly make outbreaks more intense and more often. What a disaster.

There is a great deal on the net about Herpes as many search to determine what exactly ails them. Oddly, many indicate that their doctor is unaware of what it is that is the problem as genital herpes is often misdiagnosed.

Symptoms of redness and tenderness on the inner lips of the mouth or genitals are common with genital herpes infections. There are no blisters, sores, or scabs. After the first occurrence, doctors often mistakenly prescribe a course of antibiotics to deal with a severe infection. This is so sad as antibiotics have no effect against viruses such as those causing genital herpes.

Often times the result for females is a yeast infection. Even with treatment, the yeast infection persists, as a result of the immune system being compromised from the antibiotics. The redness and soreness continues. The patient returns to the doctor who prescribes more pills for yeast infections. The redness and soreness continues for up to one week.

Some seem to find that by accident that taking the antihistamine Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride seemed to help reduce the tenderness and redness slowly. Some also switch to a hypo-allergenic liquid soap designed for that area, in case it was some form of contact dermatitis. Often times a return visit, yet again, occurs to the waiting doctor eager to prescribe more drugs with uncertain results, except that a follow up visit will be needed much to the dismay of the patient, but financial benefit of the doctor.

The next doctor visit occurs upon which he says that it might be herpes but wanted to wait and see if it would heal without medication for genital herpes. They may say they see no vaginal lesions and the vagina tissue looks healthy. Once it goes away, the patient may not think much about it.

Until of course the return…..same symptoms - redness and tenderness sometimes without sores, blisters, etc.. What does the frustrated patient do?? Turn back to the antihistamine again with 1 % cortisone cream with continued very slow healing time. Even with the same sexual partner, questions arise. Could it be from his cold sores? Often this is the culprit being transferred via oral sex.

The frustrated patients also hate to go to the doctor and get something on their record about herpes. It is certainly true that private insurance companies are very opposed to accept people with any possibility of having a chronic condition. It is any wonder why natural medicine has experienced such a huge boom in treating herpes? Most now prefer natural or homeopathic approaches whenever possible to treat herpes simplex infections.

When considering a herpes treatment with EOs, the western world identifies the chemical structure of an EO to predict the thereapeutic effect.

In TCM, they use this and the Signature approach: the oils do the same to humans as they do naturally. They look at the plant and draw conclusions of what the plant does naturally. They look at how the oil resonates with the essence of the person. They are working with the Chi, the system of movement if you will. Leaves represent the movement of the blood of the plant where most Eos come from.

Man of course represents a break in the 4 legged animal - walking upright in an attempt to become like the plants, solarized if you will like the plants.

Root oils for example are very grounding. If someone is acting erratically you can use vetiver for example to ground them. If someone is depressed light loving oils like helichrysum and rosemary are applied to bring light in. If a person needs support and protection, TCM docs would use a bark oil like cinnamon bark which is a protectorate.

Pine is used for upper respiratory conditions as it survives in high altitudes, it thrives in environments where there is very little oxygen. Therefore if there is little oxygen available it is able to promote proper respiratory functionality.

Respiratory conditions use Eucalyptus because it has a high concentration of cineole. Cin means movement in greek. Eole means Air. Use for flu. This can also be used for herpes related viral infections when considering to buy a herpes treatment.

The new EU Clinical Trials Directive 2001/20/EC comes into implementation in May 2004, and will apply to all medicinal products including natural herpes treatments in an attempt to heal herpes. Aromatherapy is becoming increasingly squeezed - not doubt the representatives of our professional organizations will say, when considering existing AT research, that these regulations "do not apply to Aromatherapy", and we will end up occupying some sort of backwater or hinterland (such as seems to be happening with the EU Biocides legislation, where essential oils might yet get shuffled off into some obscure category as part of the Cosmetics Act). Or do we become some sort of halfway-house in nursing & hospital care where someone qualified has to vouch for and oversee everything that AT's do in research including those remedies to heal herpes?

But is there is something aromatherapy could gain from these regulations, if say by some stretch of the imagination, it were to be included? The aspects of patient protection seem laudable, and GMP (including the tracking of oils) may become obligatory - no bad thing surely. And if manufacture, import and labeling of materials were stretched to include active therapeutics, especially when attempting to heal herpes, then so-called "therapeutic grade essential oils" might come within its' scope - and then maybe the companies selling these products would have to qualify their statements via explanations and evidence put forward by their mandatory "Qualified Person".

When dealing with essential oils to treat herpes related illnesses, it is mandatory that the oils used have been thoroughly tested for efficacious quality. Batch tracking to establish production dates and shelf life has not been as reliable as it relies solely on supplier guarantee if not individually tested. Those watching the attempts of my colleagues to challenge the quality of information provided by certifying bodies for organic oils in Europe may have read of an instance of an oil produced in Morocco and being certified as originating in Provence, France! One must be sure that the such oil manufacturers know what they are talking about and walk the walk.

When the producers export goods under contract when the purchaser can inspect the lot on the premise, the system seems flawless. The independent purchaser draws samples for quality control. If the samples are approved, the material is delivered to the customer. Accurate tracking is guaranteed and the importer is not allowed access to the goods – and is therefore unable to adulterate them, as all handling is done by the shippers. This works well on a big scale and some companies have a great success here like the Forces of Nature, none others to speak of.

For example, citrus oils play an interesting role regarding quality and exportation. The oxidation process starts immediately in citrus oils. I can not give away industrial confidences, para-cymene levels in some citrus oils are indicative of its' oxidation history, and the big citrus beverage makers are immensely strict on para-cymene levels. It is difficult for aromatherapists to get down to this level of artifact-free working, because the surface to volume ratio of an oil in a small aromatherapy bottle is so much higher than the surface to volume ratio of oil in a steel drum or in an industrial bulk container, thereby the increased opportunity for oxidation.

It is my pleasure report that I have been invited by the Italian Organic Products Association, AIAB, of EcoCert standards, to be part of the committee which will write down the specifications for new categories to be introduced. These include Organic Cosmetics, Organic fabrics as well as organic detergents. Of course my area of expertise for consultation will be with plant extract division of essential oils. Of interest to note in this arena is that specific organic essential oils, when used properly under the direction of a dispensing pharmacist or from treatments approved for over the counter sales, have demonstrated to be extremely effective to eradicate herpes symptoms and have been highly effective genital herpes treatments.

I consistently maintain that ethical and sustainable production / harvesting of essential oils was and is of critical importance for the planet, including those genital herpes treatments and have earned the right to be called effective remedies for herpes infections. Evaluation of anti viral plant materials as essential oils is extremely complex, a scientific background is mandatory in the formulation of herpes treatments in particular with regard to final products analyses, etc.

I am happy to say initial feedback regarding sustainable cultivation has been embraced by the AIAB. We will meet again in the future to further along our discussion and commitment. I have hope that this move from the AIAB will have important consequences inside and outside Italy. EU legislation points towards integration, and it is likely that if we can push a more stringent and intelligent policy on essential oils with the AIAB in Italy, we will be successful to have this continue on to other EU countries.

For therapeutic grade oils, herpes treatments inclusive, I am compiling a list of oils with sustainability problems and a second list of essential oils which are often adulterated or which present problems with identification, substitution, and so on. This is particularly evident in genital herpes products which claim to use pure and natural essential oils. If an essenital oil based herpes treatment is approved for over the counter sales and has organic certification from a legitimate authority, then there is a high probability this treatment will allow you to achieve the desired results and represent the highest standards. The other essential oils, some advertising online, have been found to use adultered oils of little therapeutic value and detrimental the planetary existence. It is safe to order herpes remedies online, just make sure it is reputable with support from herpes.org.

More about the essential oils and efficacy in treating such viral conditions like genital herpes and herpes related infections such as cold sores.

It is critical to use only a reputable organization and not some aromatherapy tricksters which have popped up recently regarding a genital herpes treament. Essential oils are highly effective as a genital herpes treatment, but only those brands which are certified organic and of therapeutic caliber. The organic brands carried over the counter are the only ones those in the business recognize as being authentic. The others are just cheap copies and will probably be out of business in the not so distant future.

For example, we have found oils used in herpes remedies which buy oils from farms which practice the not so fine art of nitrogen blanketing. This procedure prevents the natural uptake of oxygen by the oil, by limiting its availability. Bubbling a fine stream of nitrogen through a 180kg drum of oil for 12-24 hours is a standard way of removing "still notes" in the trade. This is an alternative to leaving the contents to age naturally: 1-2 years for lavender, 1 year for rosemary. It works on a small scale as well. However, you have to use glass tubing drawn out to a fine capillary and as many factory & warehouse places have a "no glass policy" this can be tricky.

The only company on the market which uses any oil worthy of therapeutic standards to treat herpes infections is Forces of Nature. We have tested all the others out there and they frankly are crap. Most use adulterated oils and are a poor attempt to copy Forces of Nature.

When recounting issue of quality of essential oils to treat herpes, I remember interacting with an associate who was very involved with treating herpes simplex and genital herpes. She had had an excellent treatment for genital herpes.

Her story of buying oils for herpes simplex remedy also involves the finding of nitrogen in essential oils she purchased for her genital herpes remedy. This particular purchase involved the often adulterated oil of lavender. About two months after her purchase of lavander from an essential oil company, she called me to give me the bad news, her lavender oil lavender went sour!!

She told me she delicately transferred the oil from the aluminum container into glass dispenser. During this transfer, with her 20 plus years working with essential oils, indicated something was not right. Upon investigation it was suggested that nitrogen was at play with the distillation which disturbs the oxygen content of the essential oil causing it to go bad, which is of course never suitable to use as a herpes simplex treatment.

Our diagnostic test of the oil confirmed that nitrogen was indeed present. Using nitrogen in distillation is not acceptable for aromatic plant medicine, especially for treating herpes. This adulteration is a common way to make the oil appear to be ages when it is not, and perhaps cover other adulerates. I will cover more on this soon.

I will detail information about the use of nitrogen in distillation and production. Unfortunately, there remain many companies who promote essential oil treatments who unwittingly buy from essential oil companies who sell oils adulterated and distilled with the use of nitrogen.

The use of nitrogen bears notice. For example, when my associates use nitrogen in their research labs for biological material they first must inspect all data for the proper oxygen levels of the item for use or distillation. Of course the skill to know what they are doing is a must and not often seen with essential oil treatments, especially for genital herpes remedies. I know of nobody in the distillation of the oils who would have knowledge of the proper amount of nitrogen for distillation of their essential oils. Organic oils will never pose this problem. This is why only the use of organic essential oils can be used therapeutically as herpes simplex treatments, especially when treating genital herpes.

Regarding the quality of natural genital herpes treatments to treat genital herpes outbreaks, this is a subject that needs continued discussion. I believe that standards beyond the usual indicators of essential oils: country of origin, single botanical species, etc. should further include exact distillation dates of the crop. Other specific conditions such as cohobation, 'triple'distilling, etc. should also be included in the labeling. Otherwise the term pure and all natural means absolutely nothing when dealing with therapeutic grade medicinal herpes treatments.

This information regarding natural remedies should additionally carry on to the end user with the appropriate lot numbers available for verification. It is known that many essential oil companies “fudge” on their oils by adulterating the end product and altering crop year and distillation time. I know that a young distillation of some essential oils are better when they age, while others are not. This is important to know from the company you purchase essential oils from, especially when treating herpes simplex related conditions. Clearly organic standards are also a must, especially when treating genital herpes.

Personally, on several occasions, I have received from so-called reputable purveyors of essential oils an end product which when tested, were not anywhere close to what they were touted to be regarding distillation dates and quality. Attempting to get these providers to make good on their essential oils that I would be embarrassed and ashamed to use or sell to anybody was hopeless. Most unfortunate.

As a result, as one can imagine, there are a significant amount of essential oil suppliers can companies I refuse to work with. Companies using organic plant material, with verifiable years of established relationships with the growers, verifying time after time the quality is of the highest standard, is imperative if you are to maintain quality and promote a therapeutic grade product worth anything of value to the end user, especially if you are treating the genitals with a herpes treatment!!

As a result, when using the oils medicinally, to treat herpes for example, it is necessary that a more comprehensive organizational body be developed in the states to regulate essential oils as it is in Europe. Using the oils medicinally to treat herpes can be an excellent way to control outbreaks, however, when using such oils, I would only trust an essential oil product from the states which is approved for over the counter sales and is organic, especially when treating herpes. Essential oils with Organic certifications are also critical for the continued sustainability of the planet.

There are many natural herpes treatment options with essential oils. However one must be very careful when choosing natural herpes treatment as many of the products available use questionable ingredients, to say the least.

Beware of herpes products only sold from the internet without any mention of being found in retail outlets or over the counter. Buying from the internet is a common way people suffering from herpes find treatments. A natural genital herpes treatment can be purchased on the net, but only from a site which has been accepted as pharmaceutical strength plant material. Being endorsed by a non profit site is always a huge item to consider and one which has a great deal of significance.

The non profit herpes site herpes.org has a great deal of respect in the herpes community and if they recommend a natural genital herpes treatment it most likely is excellent.

One example of quality with essential oils is with mandarin and other citrus oils. These are frequently, if not invariably adulterated - with orange terpenes and other terpene hydrocarbons. This can be detected by looking for the almost complete absence of delta-3-carene on a GC trace. But for others, their nose should identify the difference. When you smell the real thing you think wow!! Your mouth waters almost uncontrollably. There is a huge difference in quality, especially when using the oils therapeutically as medicine.

If using the oils as medicine, to treat herpes per se, only organic oils are acceptable. Otherwise you will be using cut and adulterated half the strength of what they should be and just simply creating an overall crappy product.

However, as well as quality the other thing I've noticed with working in hot countries where the temperature can easily reach 40-50 C and the humidity very low, is that things smell (and taste) totally different to the way they do in a more temperate and humid climate. This is because, for one thing, they oxidize so quickly, but maybe the manner in which odorants latch on to the active sites of detecting proteins in our nasal epithelium changes with temperature. So, the upshot is, when I've worked in Egypt or Indonesia I have had to relearn how familiar oils and odorants smell in a different location before I could do any blending work whatsoever.

Gential herpes for lack of better definition is not a joking matter. It seems that some commentators have called people afflicted with gential herpes as losers. This level of ignorance off genital herpes conditions shows the true character of these low lifes who are actually the losers themselves.

In almost every situation, a person who becomes infected with gential herpes does so without knowledge. An unsuspecting person has sexual intercourse with another without the slightest clue of what is about to happen. Their life is permanently altered as a result of this encounter. Depending on the situation, there may have been disclosure of herpes prior to the act. But this is not often.

So education is certainly critical. It seems that approximately 90% of the American population have the herpes virus and I am unaware of the statistic in the UK. Genital herpes is just one STD to be weary of. So why don't more people use condoms?? Perhaps it is because so many western woman are on the abortion pill. No need for condoms then, so they think.

Genital herpes is much more of a problem in western society. This would make the pill theory more applicable.

When it comes to treating herpes, using anti viral plant extracts represent an often overlooked form of alternative healing. In Europe, as well as many other countries, essential oils have been used topically to remedy a wide range of health problems, including herpes simplex.

Health practitioners and MDs are fully trained and licensed in Europe as essential oil therapists. This is most common in France and Germany, but can be found throughout the EU community. Herpes treatments comprised of certified organic material are very effective for those I know who use them. The quality used by the health community is always organic, the best as this quality is the most effective. A little goes a long way if you use pure organic oil. Excellent results are often experienced from just one drop of anti viral material.

The challenge is to find proper quality of plant material to be used as a herpes treatment. One must do their research and purchase plant material which has been harvested under organic standards. This will provide the most powerful mechanism to help annihilate the herpes virus, which seems to be a major strategy when it comes to herpes treatments.

When considering a genital herpes treatment, the amazing thing about using anti viral plant extracts is that not only are they far better for your system than prescription drugs, but also far less expensive. Anti viral plant extracts are shown to neutralize genital herpes. Yet this fact is yawned at by the drug companies. Why??

Because using natural anti viral plant extracts as a genital herpes treatment is not money medicine. Despite the fact that plant extracts provide superior results when used as a genital herpes treatment, they are yawned at by pharmaceutical establishments.

As most people know, I research information and send it along. When I do send my comment, I just "tell it like it is."

Some folks, who can't handle the truth, say that I am cold and insensitive. But I've always thought that when someone asks for help, you should give him or her adequate and accurate information. I realize that unless people do ask for help, most are completely unwilling to accept any. Few things are as uncomfortable as un-asked-for advice, or are rejected faster.

Far too many people allow their friends to suffer unnecessarily, because they were afraid that they were going to hurt their friend's feelings. When it comes to a genital herpes treatment many people make the mistake of buying products which are not verified by an independent source and unfortunately turn out to be some sort of scam. This gives the natural products industry a bad reputation.

Most people find out the hard that using inferior natural products which are not organic and not found over the counter, are a waste of time and money. It is then that they turn to organic remedies and find that these organic extracts give them fast and longer-lasting results, more so than anything else they can find-- including most prescription drugs.

When considering a herpes treatment you can certainly find cheap knock offs and potentially dangerous products, some of which are banned altogether yet still manage to peddle from a website.

If you want cheap "essential oils" to treat a health issue -- that will probably do you more harm than good. One can go to any health store and purchase "essential oils" that are nothing but the "dregs" that were even refused by the perfume industry. You can probably find five or six different brands of these useless products for sale there. Same can be said about some of these products sold from a website which of course are mysteriously absent from any mention of being available over the counter.

The "cost" of these treatments and oils will be the same or less as reputable established products -- but I'm certain will prove to be far more expensive -- in continued (and possibly some new) "health problems."

Been there, done that, which was a complete waste of time and money. Frankly, I would not accept any of those "cheap oils" if the store offered to give them to me. Oh, I might accept them if they paid me enough and I was able to locate a safe method of disposing of them. But I certainly would not use them.

To make it even worse, those unscrupulous "cheap oil" companies (maybe out of ignorance, but it's probably just greed) dilute those "oils", or use diluted oils in their treatments, to about 20% strength with petrochemicals that people with any common sense realizes are toxic. As a result, their cost is practically nothing. Therefore, they can sell them cheaply, and still make a big profit, or worse yet sell them at prices comparable to organic lines. (However, they give many who try them a false impression of real essential oils.")

If you want pure and un-cut, beneficial "essential oils," there is only one way, that is to deal with the source or deal with organic oil companies who go to the source.

The only thing that really counts is RESULTS. The bitterness of poor quality or knock off product will linger long after the sweet taste of a "cheap" price has disappeared.

When seeking to treat herpes simplex causing genital herpes, there are several very real approaches one should consider. First off "right" (as in..."be in your right mind"...) living is a good place to start. Treating genital herpes with proper hygiene, a right mental and spiritual attitude, a good diet, quality AND correct quantity water consumption, adequate sleep, good oxygenation, and regular exercise all play a part to help neutralize the herpes virus.

Physically speaking, diet and water intake are HUGE...dis-ease is just that. Viral pathogens such as herpes simplex have a much more difficult time in a body that is clean and free of waste material for them to feed on. So if ones strives for this, disease will have no staying-power. If there is poor water quality and consumption as well as a lack of high amounts of fiber and nutrient-rich food materials the organs all begin to slow down, malfunction, and basically start to starve. Makes sense when you think about it.

It has been reported that cells which do not function correctly are as much considered to waste material in the body as is foreign matter?! All of this creates waste and by design the body tries it's best to eliminate it. This certainly stresses the system which we know causes herpes virus outbreaks.

This is done four ways: through breath, sweat, urinary and colon elimination's. However if any of these have been neglected or abandoned then a regiment of consistent discipline is in order to correct it. Booster's can be incorporated to assist in this process: Massage, diet changes, stress reduction/biofeedback, meditation, Essiac and/or other herbal teas, herbal bolus', specific exercising, prayer/fasting, and/or organic essential oils are just the tip of the iceberg when treating genital herpes.

Proper adherence to this lifestyle will almost every time result in dramatic reduction in genital herpes outbreaks and acts as one genital herpes treatment.

Gential herpes. When first looking at this word one thinks it is genital herpes. However, Gential herpes is probably the most misspelled version of this affliction.

Regargless of spelling, the effect of gential herpes remains the same. A most unfortunate viral disease which usually leaves people in the closet as it has such a negative social stygma attached. Oddly this is not the case with cold sores, which are caused by the herpes virus as well. I imagine that as it is not referred to commonly as herpes it is more accepted.

This leaves the poor herpes sufferer in worse shape, creating stress, the very object he or she must control. Wow, you mean the mind actually has some bearing with your health?? Wow, you mean that your head is actually attached to your body? Wow, imagine that.

You mean that by balancing your mind you also balance your body? And I can do this on my own without a doctor and it will cost nothing. Truly amazing. This is especially true with genital herpes and cold sores.

The vast majority of the world population is infected with at least
one member of the human herpes virus family of which there are
several strains. Herpes infections are the cause of what we call
cold sores and genital herpes as well as life-threatening or sight-impairing disease mainly in
immunocompromised patients, pregnant women and newborns.

Since the development of the drug acyclovir in the late 1970s acyclovir, commonly
called zovirax, which is a nucleosidic inhibitor of the herpes DNA polymerase, no new non-
nucleosidic anti-herpes drugs have been formulated. However, It has recently
been established that new inhibitors of the HSV helicase-primase with potent in vitro anti-
herpes activity, a novel mechanism of action, have shown a low resistance rate
and superior efficacy against HSV in animal models.

When treating herpes, it was found that BAY 57-1293 (N-[5-(aminosulfonyl)-4-methyl-1,3-thiazol-2-yl]-N-methyl-2-[4-(2-pyridinyl)
phenyl]acetamide), a well-tolerated member of this class of
compounds, significantly reduces time to healing, prevents rebound of
disease after cessation of treatment and, most importantly, reduces
frequency and severity of recurrent disease. Thus, from this test, once can
conclude that this class of drugs has significant potential for the treatment of HSV disease in
humans, including those resistant to current medications.

Have you found your effective herpes treatment? The same question can be applied regarding an effective cold sore treatment.

I do not understand why people in America freak out over this word herpes. Here in Europe people judge each other for who they are. It really is a nice way. Americans are so stressed, is it any wonder why it is the STD capital of the world. Yet so funny that many Americans do not even realize just how diseased their own population is compared to the rest of the world.

America is far from the puritanical country it promotes itself to be. Look at herpes. It has the highest incidence rate of herpes of just about any country on the planet. Hm, you don't see that splattered all over the headlines do you???

Herpes simplex is so common in America that a whopping 90% of the population are infected with the herpes virus. As a result, being infected with herpes simplex in America is the norm in society. Pretty amazing when one thinks about this statistic.

The media in America certainly filters the news to the unsuspecting guinea pigs, I mean citizens, in the states. Those poor people who sit and listen to the pollution they are fed each day over the radio by corporate influenced media companies. It is any wonder why America is the laughing stock of the rest of the world?

An effective herpes treatment can come in many forms. There are of course the pharma companies which bombard the media with their herpes treatment options. Of course never mentioning anything about healthy living in relation to herpes treatment.

Healthy living is integral for treating any health related illness and just feels good! As a result, it is equally important that no matter what herpes treatment you decide to use, that you employ healthy living standards. Hm, maybe this was meant to be? Be nice to your body, and be nice to yourself. What a great concept!!

One can consider a wide range of options when it comes to determining a proper herpes treatment. Fortunately, or unfortunately, the choices have grown in recent years it can become difficult to separate fact from fiction when it comes to determining real herpes treatments verse one that are not so legitimate.

The non profit website www.herpes.org has nice description of available herpes treatments which are reputable as the medical board on this site has researched options and found credible herpes treatments.

With typing words on a keyboard I have seen gential herpes spelled this way, verse genital herpes, almost as often. I wonder if gential herpes is spelled this way by accident or on purpose as the person just does not know the correct spelling.

I imagine the answer is a little of both. I have accidentally typed gential herpes. Either with the word is spelled the condition is not going to change. Would be wonderful to say that you have gential herpes and have the genital herpes magically go away. Ah, what a fine concept. Oh, but I am sure that the pharmaceutical companies would in turn have a fit and find someway to discredit this herpes treatment.

I am of the belief that pharma really does not want to cure gential herpes, most conditions and disease for that matter. There is way too much money made in treating illness than to cure it. This is why one must take matters into their own hands. Research, read, educate, be well!!

There has been much talk about using lysine as a potentially effective herpes treatment. Therefore I thought it be poignant to share further information regarding lysine.

Lysine is an essential amino acid needed for the synthesis of proteins as well as matabolism of carbohydrates and fatty acids. Lysine is responsible for normal growth and helps repair tissue damage. The body's connective tissues are made of lysine. It has shown that lysine can significantly reduce herpes simplex infections. The recommended dosage of lysine when takes as a herpes treatment is approximately 1,000-3,000 mg per day episodically. 500-1,000 mg per day of lysines as suppressive therapy.

Lysine, along with methionine, will lead to L-carnitine which assists metabolism of long chain fatty acids. Lysine has shown to help increase calcium absorption and enhance calcium deposit into the bone martix. It is recommended to be taken with calcium to promote healthy bones and teeth.

As a result, lysine supplements show to offer many different health benefits, not only as a believed herpes treatment.

For those that might have missed it, in the UK, the government's clinical watchdog, the National Institute for Clinical Evidence (NICE), has given cautious and partial endorsement to certain alternative therapies on the basis the perceived benefits of certain treatments, in the areas of pain, fatigue etc.

Apparently this is recognized in the form of NHS guidance published on 25 Nov 2003. You will be not entirely surprised to learn that reflexology, massage, magnetic treatments, t'ai chi and fish oil treatments are recognised. Neither will you be surprised to find out that acupuncture, yoga, herbal remedies and aromatherapy do not get endorsement (the jury is still out), but that magnetic bracelets, meditation and breathing hyperbaric oxygen treatments are definitely out.

The outcome is that doctors may be encouraged to tell patients "that there is certain evidence to suggest ..." in certain situations, no doubt referring to the those few double-blinded randomized trials we have in alternative therapies, so favored as hard evidence by the medical community. However having read some excellent work on a more holistic approach to gauging the success of alternative therapies, I sort of see why conventional approaches may have failed to endorse the obviously beneficial, especially when treating herpes ......but lets hope our national clinical watchdogs see the light, as another set of guidelines is expected from them soon (this time in the area of depression).

Its sort of weird to watch these committees make their pronouncements with whatever academic wisdom they may have at their disposal, when I know, and have seen at first hand, that working aromatherapists who use certified organic oils are routinely healing and making improvements in their clients lives especially in the area of herpes and genital warts.... perhaps the figure of 6 million aromatherapeutic treatments per year will tell the committee that patient faith and expectation for beneficial outcomes of treatment is obviously there, espcecially with viral related conditions, herpes inclusive, even if the science hasn’t quite caught up with the art just yet....

Oral herpes, also called cold sores is known as the "good herpes" verse genital herpes being the "bad herpes" virus. However, oral herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex 1, which has also been shown to be the cause of genital herpes.

Therefore, oral herpes is herpes. It is estimated that up to 90% of the population will have some form of the herpes virus in their system by the time they reach adult age. One must remember that if one has an oral herpes outbreak, it is very possible to spread this herpes infection to the genitals through oral sex.

Therefore, if one has an infection from cold sores it is best to refrain from any sexual activity and find a suitable cold sore treatment. It is also important not to kiss anyone if you have an active oral herpes lesion.

Oral herpes can have the same side effects as genital herpes. An active lesion will look the same and a person may have a feeling of being run down and tired during an oral herpes outbreak.

Therefore, if you have cold sores, it is important to secure a proper cold sore treatment.

Shingles is a caused by the herpes virus. This much we know. How to treat shingles is not so easy. This is more of an issue with post herpetic trauma caused by shingles.

If a person has shingles, it usually comes in the form of blisters on the skin. These blisters can cause great pain. Once the shingles outbreak has subsided it is not uncommon for a person to experience pain in that area even without there being an outbreak from shingles. This is called port herpetic neuralgia. This post herpetic neuralgia from shingles has been a medical anomily regarding treatment. There has been no pill or miracle cure developed to help those in need.

As shingles is not a life threatening illness it does not get much of the attention needed in terms of treatment. For those suffering from shingles the usual course of therapy is anti viral medication. Unfortunately, this has not demonstrated to be very helpful to eliminate the pain from shingles.

Herpes simplex, also called the herpes virus can be a challenge to treat if one does not know about the herpes simplex virus. Basically, the two main forms of herpes simplex that we know about, it herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2. There are other forms of herpes simplex, but these are the 2 most common herpes virus infections, with the herpes virus causing shingles the next most common type.

It is widely recognized that herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2 can occur in either the genital region, or oral area of the body. Although, each of these herpes simplex types has a site of preference. Herpes simplex 2 almost always infects the genital area. If infected, one should seen a genital herpes treatment.

Herpes virus simplex 1 predominantly infects the area around the mouth and has shown to infect the genitals causing genital herpes. As a result, an effective genital herpes treatment must be shown to act against both herpes simplex 1 and herpes simplex 2 as either stain can be the cause of genital herpes.

Additionally, one must be careful when choosing a genital herpes treatment. There are products being marketed by highly questionable sources which are spamming the search engines creating a multitude of sites touting their product as best. This becomes more obvious when these sites try to make an excuse why they are not found over the counter. The following sites are a perfect example of this, are all run by the same company looking to defraud the public: amoils, stdguide.com, genitalwartsresearch.com, natural-health-treatment.com

These sites are all run by amoils. Amoils has been deemed "an illegal operation" by the Medicines Control Agency in England and forced to shut down its European office. This is not to be taken lightly and the company is under increased exposure to litigation having been deemed illegal.
